I Can Only Imagine...

So I was driving down 95 earlier today, heading to work, and was nearly crushed between two tractor trailers thanks to someone in a little Dodge Neon who clearly doesn't know how to drive.

For reals.

I kid you not.

My first thought as I saw my life flash before my eyes was, "OH MY GOSH, YOU MORON!!"

That was directed towards the driver of the Neon. I know it's not nice to call people names, but I'm sure you understand.

My second thought was, "Nope. This can NOT be how I go."

Once I had survived the ordeal, I thanked the Lord. And then I noticed what song was playing on the radio (yes, I listen to my station even when I'm not on duty): MercyMe's "I Can Only Imagine."

It then occurred to me, if I'm gonna go out in a blaze of glory, I might as well go out to that song. Seriously. How epic would it be to die while "I Can Only Imagine?" was playing? It would be, like, my own personal soundtrack ushering me into Glory.

But then I realized... no one would actually know that I had died while "I Can Only Imagine" was playing in the car, and they'd miss out on the awesome irony. It'd be such an awesome story to tell. And that kind of made me disappointed. Because, like, I wouldn't be here to tell the story of how I died to "I Can Only Imagine" playing. And I'd make it a great, dramatical story too.

So if I ever die in a car accident, please cross reference my time of death with the station playlist. Because if I die to an appropriate song like "I Can Only Imagine," I want that noted in my obituary, played at my funeral, and the story of my demise told far and wide.

K?

K.

The end. Thanks. I'd do the same for you.

  1. 1.) SOOOO glad you aren't on that side of eternity yet.

2.) Will do! Roger Wilco, over and out!

:D Though I can't promise to keep Austin from playing Skillet at your memorial service.

Or possibly from having pictures of you with the rockin-Arbutus Snuggie blown up life size and cut out to greet those that come to gather and remember your fantastic love. So, don't ask me to do that.
