My Father's Rule

‎"He who is up first makes the coffee."

That's my father's "rule."

I maintain that I am a "she" and am, therefore, exempt from said "rule."

However, I like to remind my father of the generous, considerate, magnanimous, helpful, and extraordinarily humble woman I have become, so I will make the coffee if I am up first.

I'd also like to remind my father that I can hear him run down the hallway into his bedroom when I first walk down the steps in the morning. Little more subtlety, Pops!

So, who wants a cup of strong decaf??
